How to Make Money from Affiliate Marketing

Network marketing sounds good in theory but in reality it takes a lot of work to achieve the levels of success that make it sound so appealing in the first place. It's not something that will help you get rich overnight. Like anything worthwhile it takes work and lots of it.

Network marketing is a legitimate business with a legitimate opportunity to earn income part time or full time without a lot of upfront investment. But that doesn't mean it's easy and it doesn't mean you can do it on cruise control. It requires that somebody sell something to someone in order for money to change hands.

Many modern day direct sellers and network marketers are using the internet to leverage their sales and gain exposure to markets in other towns, counties, states and even countries. So if you have a website for network marketing, why not leverage it to create chances for other income as well?
Here are some ideas for potential methods you can use:
  1. Affiliate programs like Click Bank
  2. Adsense ads and other ads and banner programs
  3. Building a list
  4. products
  5. Relevant advertisers
  6. Create your own product
  7. Teach how to lessons
  9. Write a book about a hobby
  10. Do all of the above
I have been earning money from simple websites since 2001 using a mix of the items on the list above. If that sounds like something you would like to learn more about, let me know and I'll be happy to help if I can. Or you can read some of the free step-by-step training materials from this affiliate training website.

Persistance Pays Off

"Anything worth doing is worth doing right."

"There is no free lunch."

"Do it right the first time."

We've all heard those motivational quotes a hundred times (maybe even thousands), but they are still as true today as they were originally.

You don't lose the race until you stop running! As long as we continue placing one foot in front of the other day after day, week after week and month after month; our chances of winning improves with each and every step we take.

And here's my favorite quote of all and something I try to live by every day of my life:

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence....Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

Why Jerky Direct?

I've been involved in online affiliate marketing for about 9 years via and Google Adsense.

I have a bbq blog that has had more than 1 million hits during that time span. As anyone who has ever tried to earn money from a web advertising affiliate opportunity knows, it takes massive website traffic to generate any real money. So why do people sign up for the and AdSense advertising opportunities? In my opinion: because it's free. Free is good, but free has some limitations.

I have been involved in another opportunity for the past 2 years that also compliments my online website and doesn't interfere with any of my other attempts to monetize those sites. It's a simple opportunity - one of the simplest I've ever seen.

Enjoy great tasting, high protein snacks and tell others about them. In a nutshell, that's what I do.

Wholesale or retail, it's entirely up to you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are watching a little television this morning before starting final preparations for the Thanksgiving meal.

This year we're having deep fried turkey, cranberries, stuffing and apple pie (so delicious). I take care of the turkey and my wife handles the sides and desert.

With fried turkey, dinner is ready in about 60 minutes and the turkey turns out great - so tender and moist just the way it should be.

Fried turkey - crispy on the outside, melt in your mouth juicy and tender on the inside

History of Jerky

Jerky has been used as a method for preserving meat for thousands of years.

Cowboys sliced meat into strips, seasoned it with salt and dried it with the low heat from a fire or with smoke.

It was used as a way to provide food during long trips on trail without relying on hunting for it along the way and without brining actual cattle on the trip for slaughter.

Beef properly cured aka preserved can be eaten several weeks later.

Here's a recipe from American Cowboy that might help give you some ideas if you decided to make jerky on your own.

Ingredients list:
• 2 lbs. beef; eye of round, top round, or flank steak
• 1⁄ 2 cup Worcestershire
• 1⁄ 2 cup soy sauce
• 1 T. sorghum (or brown sugar or molasses)
• 1 t. onion powder
• 1⁄ 2 t. garlic powder
• 1⁄ 2 t. ground coriander
• 1⁄ 2 t. ancho or jalapeƱo powder
• 1⁄ 4 t. ground cumin
• 1 t. Liquid Smoke (optional; Sullivan prefers smoking naturally)

Jerky of the Month

My wife snapped this picture after my trip to the mailbox to pick up my favorite Jerky Direct Natural Slab Style Original Beef Jerky. The jerky always arrives fresh and tasty.

This jerky has no MSG, no hormones, no antibiotics, no nitrite, no erythorbate, and no preservatives. At 11 grams of protein, it's also a nice low fat snack food. I have always enjoyed grabbing a Snickers for a mid-morning snack, but jerky is a much healthier alternative.

I lost 27 lbs in 12 months time eating a diet higher in protein and lower in carbohydrates. Jerky played a role in my weight loss. It helped satisfy my cravings.

The Golden Rule is Good for Business

Dale Carnegie taught thousands of people How to Win Friends and Influence People. The company he created several decades ago still exists and thousands of people are still taking the same basic course he taught each year.

What technique/message is so powerful that people are still paying big bucks to learn about it?

It's a simple concept. In fact you probably know all you need to know about it already and don't need to spend money for the course. Whether in your relationships with family, work, or business the technique works very reliably.

Treat others the way you want to be treated. (I told you it was simple.)

In fact, it's so simple that I'm amazed why people don't do it. I'll give an example from my own personal experience.

I love eating out - A LOT. I eat at fast food places, fast casual places, taco places, pizza places, and steakhouses on a regular basis. I work hard, so I reward myself with a quick and easy meal. Restaurant service is generally pretty good, but now and then I run across a poor example.

Sometimes it's the waiter or waitress. Sometimes it's cleanliness. And other times it's actually the owner that creates the bad experience. Whether it's lack of attention (i.e. taking my order); a dirty fork, knife, or spoon (i.e. lack of attention to detail); or overall rudeness of the guy in charge (it's actually surprising how often I run into this) - bad is bad.

Reversing this scenario, I doubt any of these folks would appreciate being treated poorly if we traded aprons. The poor experience shows up in smaller tips, smaller overall ticket prices (no desert), and not returning for a second visit. Whether they realize it or not, they are taking money from their own pockets.

The same holds true for your own homebased jerky business. Tell the truth and honor your commitments. Put more simply....Do the right thing.

Tax Benefits of Home Based Business

I am no CPA (and I don't play one on TV), but most people who have done even a small amount of research are aware that starting a home based business provides some tax advantages.

A Huffington Post article summarized some of the possibilities:

1. Deductions for business expenses
2. Explore special rules to write off some home costs
3. Travel deductions
4. Deduct computer costs
5. Home office deductions

But please don't take my word for it and don't rely solely on a news article for tax advice. Discuss these facets of home business operation with a qualified tax adviser.

If you do decide to start a home business, here's a suggestion for you.
  • Start-up costs are minimal
  • The products are consumable
  • The products are low cost, but high quality.
  • Healthy
  • Nutritious
Don't get me wrong. Running a business is not easy. It takes work on your part, but the rewards are pretty nice for those who are persistent and willing to put forth the effort.

Lose Weight Eating Jerky

All my friends are jealous that I lost almost 30 pounds last year without eating flavorless foods.  Basically, I increased my protein intake and decreased complex carbohydrates at the same time. I followed the Dukan Diet with much success.

Now a year later I grab a snack of beef or buffalo jerky instead of buying a candy bar or bag of chips from the vending machine.

A positive side effect of adding high quality sources of protein to my diet has been an overall improvement in feeling "healthy". It turns out, there's a reason for that.

From WebMD:
Researchers have long known that carbohydrates cause the body to produce insulin and that high levels of insulin inhibit the breakdown of fatty deposits in the body. In contrast, low intake of carbohydrates keeps insulin levels low, forcing the production of a counterbalancing hormone, glucagon, which seeks energy from the body's supply of stored fat.

But wait there's more...

Now I earn supplemental income selling jerky on websites, online classifieds, blogs, and even Facebook.
